Engineering and Designing In the Digital Age
I’m happy to share this Personal Residence project I worked on recently. I did this with free software and an IPhone. I wanted to see what I could accomplish with minimal tools at my disposal. This is a scale model in which I made a digital double of the existing conditions (LiDAR Scan) and used it to develop this design. The LiDAR scan allowed me to asses the condition of the wall down to individual bricks, this context has so much value when considering a design for a complex space such as this. The slope in the front yard was aggressive and conquering that slope meant I had to be careful with how the walls hold back the soil. This design is meant to last, I employed the use of cutbacks in each wall system to add rigidity and stability. Constructing a wall system like this would ensure the longevity of the setback for years.
